HPM: Laken App

Laken isn’t awkward, per say. She just never really got the chance to interact with anyone other than her brothers. As such, Laken can be a little blunt and might not always watch what she’s saying... She’s more comfortable around guys than girls, simply because that's all she's really known. Girls just make her self conscious, since they’re always dressed so nice and look so attractive, and Laken... often can't wear anything but boys’ hand-me-downs or ratty clothes. Still, doesn’t stop her from doing what she wants to do like go out and explore or enjoy life. Laken, being a Mime Jr., will sometimes mimic what people's words or actions. It isn’t meant to mock the person; it’s just a habit that she never really takes notice of. Oh, and can’t forget how much she loves food. She gets very irritated if she sees people being wasteful or picky. She isn’t irritated often, but that's one of her biggest pet peeves.

Laken was the last to be born in her large family. Being the only girl out of 6 boys, she grew up loving comic books, super heroes, and lots of rough and dirty play out in the woods by their home. Her mother was the only one who could work, since her father had been suffering from an injury he had received in the past. So times were tough. Laken rarely saw her mother because she worked two jobs, and because they struggled with money, it was easier for the children to be home schooled by their dad. Even so, there were days where the bills came before food.

It was then that a few of the siblings took it upon themselves to earn money in an attempt to help their parents. One of the older brothers worked at a dingy fast food restaurant in town, and another worked with one of the neighboring farms to tend to the animals and crops. Laken was the last who tried her best to help. She was too young to hold down a real job, so she decided to help local farms and shop owners with any pesky critters that messed with their merchandise or got stuck in places they didn’t belong. You could say that this was Laken’s way of compensating for never having a pet, since pets required money to keep up. But it was fun, and she was good at catching and moving little animals back into the forest nearby. 

Years passed and life did not get much better, but they were able to get by. All of the kids were able to get through their home schooling, which was great... Except the four boys who didn’t help with the money decided to just... vanish and go about their own lives, leaving their family behind. This wouldn’t have been much of a problem, save for the fact that when Laken had just turned 20, her mother suddenly got very sick and required treatments, which sucked up much of their funds. Laken, realizing that she couldn’t stay home, decided to move out and find work elsewhere. If she did well, she could send a lot of her funds back home to help pay for the medical bills. This was a small town that they lived in, after all, and nothing ever paid well here. Laken packed up her meager belongings, leaving her two brothers to try and tend to the parents in the meantime. 

While looking for a place to work, Laken stumbled upon a couple of people who were talking about a series of islands that were booming with farms and shops. Laken listened intently for the name of the place... Raccolto..? Well, it was definitely promising, and better than waiting around for money to drop into her lap. Again Laken was on the move, this time to this land of hope and promise.

Dog/Cat Race: Espurr (I'm sure it's a popular one...). It is not her pet, but it creeps around the property. It makes a habit of staring through the windows at night...

-Laken can sneak up on a critter with relative ease.

-Laken is pretty good a mimicking people’s movements and voices.

-She’s rather good at fixing broken things and can make sure that they keep and keep and keep.
