So I'm back, and honestly I have been for a couple of weeks now. I've not been very active lately due to my website and just getting back to life.
SIGGRAPH was absolutely amazing. I learned and experienced so much and even made friends with people from Pixar, Dreamworks, and Disney, among other amazing places. I learned most importantly, though, that in order to really get into the film, animation, and gaming industry, you really need to be more of a specialist and less of a generalist. Learn to do one specific task VERY well. Then once you're in, you can learn to do a little more.
So I was working at a bank for a while... It was actually pretty awful after a while. The customers just... Yeah. Customer service is not glorious or gratifying after being yelled at for so long. So a job opportunity came up at a vinyl print shop nearby. The day that I was supposed to get on the plane for Siggraph, I had an interview that morning, haha. It paid off, as that Wednesday before I returned, I got emailed and offered the position. Funny, though. I was refreshing my email at the hotel and was just thinking about how much I dreaded going back to the bank and working with people and not even thirty seconds later, I found out about that job offer email. It must have been meant to be!
It's now full time and well paid and I finished my second day there earlier. Tomorrow I start my third day. It's been really awesome so far. I get to work hands on with the vinyl and I will get to do some layout and maybe even eventually some design stuff, too! The atmosphere is my favorite part. Everyone is a jokester and gives each other a hard time. The atmosphere is super laid back and I feel actually important. Like I really am needed. I am the only other artistic person in the entire little company besides the main guy that hired me, so that really is cool. He's called me competent and seems to really like me, so a major plus! I finally have a big girl job! It's really something else.~

Update
So... Long time no see.
I've mainly been just focusing on work and gaming lately. I do still draw, but not enough to finish anything and put it up. I'm not a part of any groups much anymore on DA, as many are inactive, dead, or I've lost interest. So I've been strolling around Tumblr more (just to look at silly pictures, mainly). My account on here will likely continue to be inactive.
DA lately has been eerily quiet for me. Most of the people I watch don't post anymore. Or if they do, it's things I'm just not wowed by anymore. I'll always check back, and to those who have my skype, I'm always in there. But for the most part... yeah. Take ca
Happy Holidays and New Year!
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! Here's to hoping that 2016 is a good one!
Minor updates on my part. Still working at that vinyl print shop company, which I love! Saw Star Wars twice already and man, is it good! Yes, it is a little rehashed, but I like to think of it as more of a cycle sort of thing.
I got a Wacom Cintiq 13HD Touch for Christmas, and I adore it. I can use it as an extra monitor and then draw right on the screen. I'm hoping that this will make it even easier to create now. I loved my old Intuos, but I missed actually looking at the surface I was drawing on.
Oh, and my boyfriend and I will be going to Pax East this coming
SIGGRAPH 2015 and Life
Hey all. Sorry I haven't posted anything positive or of interest in a while. As my best bud put it so eloquently, seems like I've been going through a quarter-life crisis. That's a thing, apparently. It's been tough going from a structured college life where everything is linear and set out in front you to a big scary world where you are pretty much alone...
I've been doing better, though, so on to some updates. Mainly I'm going to be going to SIGGRAPH in Los Angeles this August and I'm pumped! It's supposed to be one of the biggest design and animation conventions in the world, eee!! I hear nothing but good things about it and I look forwar
Tagged!
Wow, has it really been since July that I wrote a journal? I've still been around, just... life is really hard... ANYWAY.
Got tagged by someone I least expected, haha. Mr. ~Granite-Skull (https://www.deviantart.com/granite-skull) got me, so why not?
1.) You must post these rules.
2.) Answer the ten questions the person who tagged you made and make up your own 10 questions for the people you tag to answer.
3.) Choose ten people and put their icons on this journal.
4.) Go to their pages and inform them that they have been tagged if you want.
5.) You have to legitimately tag 10 people.
6.) No tag-backs.
7.) Can't say, no tags.
8.) Everyone that has been TAGGED must make a
